Niverville Chaplaincy for Residents of Niverville

01.27.18 | Information | by Roger Armbruster

This article contains information on the Niverville Chaplaincy and Maranatha's role in supporting this position in the community.

The Board of Directors of Niverville Heritage Holdings Inc. are pleased to announce that they are prepared to invest $25,000 annually towards the position of a Chaplain which should provide them with a half-time Chaplain, whose primary focus would be on meeting the spiritual needs of our PCH (Personal Care Home) residents, with their families and staff, with a secondary focus on NCUM (Niverville Credit Union Manor) and Life lease residents as time permits.

A full-time Chaplain would be in a better position to meet the needs of The Niverville Heritage Centre Campus that will soon have 165 families with loved ones living there. A full-time Chaplain would still have a primary focus on PCH residents and families and staff, but then would also provide time to develop stronger partnerships with our faith community while meeting the spiritual needs of the greater resident population of the Niverville Heritage Centre.

A full-time Chaplain would require some $50,000.00 per year, or an additional $25,000.00 annually to be raised from within Niverville. If the churches of Niverville were able to raise an amount of support that would allow the NHC to reach a two-thirds Chaplain position, then their Board of Directors and/or senior staff would also be willing to “shoulder tap” individuals in our community who would be in a financial position to close the gap between a two-thirds position and a full-time position.

The Maranatha BOD has decided to show their support by establishing a Heritage Chaplaincy Project Fund to which people from Maranatha can donate. For the first year, there would be a cap of $5,000.00 on this fund, and if the response was greater, they would encourage the donation to be given directly to the sponsoring charitable organization, the Niverville Health and Community Foundation Inc. This would lead our BOD to establish what next steps should be taken by the end of 2018. Steve Neufeld and Bonny Friesen from the Niverville Heritage Centre will make a joint 10-minute presentation during our morning service at Maranatha on Sunday, January 14, and we would encourage our people to consider a donation to this project with a special offering that morning.
